Class Description:
T’ai Chi Ch’uan (T’ai Chi) is a traditional Chinese martial art and meditation that uses slow, flowing, balanced movement, combined with relaxation, to stimulate the circulation of ch’i or vital/life energy. The benefits of Tai Chi are vast and can help the student to gain an overall sense of well-being, reduce stress and anxiety, strengthen the body and improve balance, flexibility, and circulation. At advanced levels, T’ai Chi is a formidable system of self-defense. Professor Cheng Man-ching developed the ‘simplified’ 37-posture Yang-style form and it is the most widely practiced form of T’ai Chi in the United States.
Students initially learn the 37-posture form. After learning the form students will be eligible to attend advanced form and “push hands” classes.
