About the Noire River:

The Noire River is one of three popular rivers flowing south into the Ottawa River in Quebec. It is classified as an intermediate level river, for its level of white water rapids. The upper part of the river is picturesque meandering through the Canadian wilderness offering many sandy beaches for camping, and opportunities to observe birds and wildlife. It is perfect for practicing your canoeing skills in preparation for the more exciting lower part of the river, where class I-III rapids are waiting to be run. Using our “challenge by choice” policy, where each canoe in the group gets to choose to either run a rapid, or to line or carry around it, we will safely navigate the exciting lower section of the river. There will be some rapids that the entire group with portage, requiring us to carry all our gear and canoes around the difficult sections. Portages can be challenging and are not always “fun”, but they are a part of every exciting wilderness canoe trip and add to the list of memories that are created on such a trip.

Is this Trip for you?

This fully guided yoga and canoeing trip is open to participants with prior canoe experience only. While there will be canoe instruction during the trip, participants need to come with a solid paddling background (canoe or kayak). E-mail Bryan if you have questions about your experience.

This is a wilderness trip. A positive attitude is essential for the enjoyment of the group. We will be canoeing on the river sleeping in tents, cooking our meals and using outdoor facilities. Participants need to be comfortable sleeping in tents and sleeping bags. Come ready for an enjoyable, yet challenging trip.

No prior yoga experience necessary.
